Cook & Becker and game studio Guerrilla proudly present Killzone Visual Design: Celebrating 15 Years of Killzone. This beautiful coffee table art book celebrates 15 years of Killzone development. The book is the first comprehensive overview of the complete visual development of the million-selling, PlayStation exclusive Killzone video game series.
With unlimited access to the image archives of studio Guerrilla, compilers Arjan Terpstra and Cook & Becker unearthed work from fifteen years of unique visual design. The 208 page book gives a detailed, illustrated account of the idiosyncratic design philosophy behind the Killzone video game series, the wonderful concept art used to create the Killzone universe and of the amazing attention to detail Guerrilla Games bestows on the franchise. From early hand-drawn concept art used for the first Killzone game to awe-inspiring in-game renders from Killzone Shadow Fall: this book truly celebrates the talent and skills of Killzone’s makers and is inspirational to fans and anyone involved in visual design – be it video game design or any of the other art forms.
The book 'Killzone Visual Design' is available for pre-order worldwide starting today via CandB.com and the official PlayStation Gear stores in North America and Europe. The book is available in both a limited Collector's Edition of 1.000 hand-numbered pieces, and as an open edition Standard Hardcover version. The Limited Edition comes in a luxury box and includes the hand-numbered, limited-edition giclee Killzone concept art print: ‘Stahl Arms’. The inside pages of both books are identical.
The book features opening statements by Guerrilla Games studio director Hermen Hulst and President of Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida.
"We are very happy to be able to present this art book", says Maarten Brands of Cook & Becker. "It was a joy to make and with the access Guerrilla gave us to both to their archives and the people involved in the creation of the Killzone games, we feel that we were uniquely positioned to capture the design philosophy behind one of PlayStation's key game franchises. We were also able to work with some of the finest editors, lithographers and book designers on this project to bring something truly special to market and raise the bar for future video game art books. So we want to thank editor Arjan Terpstra, studio Dog and Pony for the beautiful visual design and Marcel Salome for the great lithography.
